Wenger Luggage

Oct 28, 2006 @ 09:34 am by Henry

Today I’m going to review Wenger luggage.

There are many different types of Wenger luggage, but I’m only talking about one of them today. I will only be talking about a few of them, telling you my dislikes and likes.

One of the interesting things about Wenger is that they are also the makers of the Swiss Army knives. So as you would expect, this is a very durable and reliable luggage set.

The first one is the “Wenger Swiss Army Milano”, which is a 4 piece set.  This set retails for around $280 online.

What do you get in this four piece set?

It includes a 29” upright, a slightly smaller 25” upright, and a 21” upright. It also comes with a small tote which is perfect for carry on luggage.

The three uprights all have sturdy telescopic handles which are very comfortable on your hands. They also have the usual inline skate wheels to make the luggage set easy to move.

The uprights also have pockets on the outside, which is handy for keeping a magazine or travel documents in.

I like this set because it is very strong and durable, which is great if you travel a lot and your luggage takes a lot of wear and tear.

The Wenger luggage set is a good buy for anyone who wants an extremely durable set of luggage. This price is also very good, especially when you consider how long this luggage will last you.

Do you have any opinions on Wenger luggage? Do you own this set, or are you thinking of buying it?

If so, please leave a comment below, and share your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think of Wenger.

Thanks.

Hartmann Luggage

Oct 27, 2006 @ 05:17 am by Henry

Today I’m going to review Hartmann (which is sometimes mistakenly spelt “Hartman”) luggage.

One of the first things that strikes you about Hartmann luggage is the price. This is certainly one of the more expensive brands of luggage out there. Hartmann specialize in luggage. They make wheeled luggage, carry-on luggage, garment bags, hard sided luggage, business cases and totes.

Why is it so much more expensive than other brands? Well, Hartmann luggage is meticulously hand made. The Hartmann Company has been one of the leaders in luggage since the late 1800’s, and it is a well respected brand name in luggage.

One of my favorite designs by Hartmann is the “luxe”. These are the more up-to-date and fashionable styles made by Hartmann. The prices range from around $250 (for a simple tote) up to $950 (for a single 24” upright).

The colors are distinctive, yet tasteful, ranging from light shades of green and blue, to “ladybug” patterns of black & red and black & blue.

If you like a more traditional look to your luggage, you may like the “wings” collection by Hartmann. The prices of “wings” Hartmann luggage ranges from $380 to $1,700. These are of a much more “vintage” style and color. The Oxford Weave is particularly nice.

Another popular type of Hartmann luggage is the “Tweed” series. The “expandable mobile traveller” is a very nice piece of tweed luggage. The tweed is very durable and will maintain its color and strength for many years. It’s also specially treated to repel all forms of dirt and stains which would effect a lesser quality piece of luggage.

All Hartmann luggage is constructed from the best quality materials. The full-grain leather is specially selected from North American young hides, which is expensive, but also the best quality.

If you would like a quality piece of luggage, then you can’t go wrong with Hartmann.

What’s you opinion of Hartmann? Do you think it’s overpriced, or worth every penny? Feel free to leave a comment down below and tell me what you think!

Diane von Furstenberg Luggage

Oct 26, 2006 @ 09:44 am by Henry

Today I’m going to talk about Diane Von Furstenberg luggage.

Diane von Furstenberg is a popular fashion designer, and one of the things her company makes is luggage.

The first DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) is the “Runway Olive 4 piece luggage set”.

One of the first things that strikes you about this luggage set is the quality. The material of the luggage is nylon twill, which is very resistant and also lightweight.

The design of this luggage set is olive with gold finish, which looks simple and understated (in contrast to the other DVF luggage sets which I will talk about in a moment).

This 4 piece luggage set retails at around $600 (the last time I checked). I think this is quite a fair price for the quality of this set.

What exactly does this luggage set comprise of? Well, you get a business case, 2 different size suitcases and a carry-on.

Another popular Diane Von Furstenberg luggage is the “color-on-the-go pink” luggage set. The design of this luggage set is very vibrant and distinctive (although not very masculine!). This set retails at around $300 and it is a 2 piece luggage set for the women out there.

An equally colorful design is the “twigs” luggage, the pattern reminds me of a zebra… on wheels. It’s not something I would choose myself but I’m sure someone out there will like it.

There’s also the “Sexy Metal” design, which I’m a big fan of.  I think it looks very refined and sexy. The handling on it is great and it takes high speed bends very well… which is handy if your plane is just leaving the runway.

The final one I’m going to talk about is the “Hearts” luggage design. This is another pink and wild design, which retails at around $150 to $200.

Are you thinking of buying a Diane von Furstenberg luggage set? Do you already own a set by DVF? If so, what do you think of it?

Please leave your comments.

I would love to hear from you.

Roxy Luggage

Oct 24, 2006 @ 10:45 am by Henry

Admin Today I’m going to talk about Roxy luggage.

Roxy cover the young, trendy, and cool end of the luggage market. One of the best luggage sets that Roxy make is the Roxy Hella Cool set.

The good thing about this luggage set is all the little extras that come with it. For example, you get an eye mask, an inflatable pillow, a music holder, and a coin purse. All these little extras are great things to have when you’re travelling, and it means you don’t have to buy them separately. Altogether, this luggage set by Roxy comes to around $160, the last time I checked online.

The main compartment to this luggage set is 20” by 14” by 6”. This is just about enough room for taking weekend trips.

One of the things I like about the Roxy luggage set, is that it has a real personality (which is something I never thought I’d say about luggage). This shows through in the colors and designs, as well as the extras (it even has a detachable mirror which comes in useful for quick touch-ups of make-up or whatever).

But this luggage isn’t just about the little extras. It also performs well in the real world. It has good quality roller wheels which give the luggage a smooth ride. It has the handles in the right places (top and side, for lifting in any situation). It has a nice large main compartment, as well as three pockets to keep things in.

It has a matching cosmetics case (which is see-through, so you can se what you’ve packed without having to open it and get everything out). It has a iPod case, with a special strap that will connect to anything (like the luggage itself, or your clothing, or wherever).

So, if you’re young and trendy, and looking for some cool looking luggage that is also good quality, then Roxy luggage is the luggage for you.

Samsonite Luggage Set

Oct 22, 2006 @ 11:32 am by Henry

Today I’m going to talk about the various Samsonite luggage sets available on the market at the moment.

The first set that Samsonite make is the “Samsonite Mobility 26” set”. This is a spinner and wheeled tote 2-piece set. It costs around $120 online for this set.

Although you could use this Samsonite luggage set for most situations, it’s ideal for airports and flying. Why? Because the wheeled tote is just the right size to use as “hand luggage” and stow under your seat. Also, it’s easy to get out and show to the security people if you need to.

This set also has plenty of exterior pockets which I think come in useful for many different things, even if it’s just to store a magazine or a book in an easy to reach place, for when you’re waiting.

Inside, it has a toiletry organizer, which is completely removable. It also has a tri-fold suiter, which will come in useful for many people who buy this luggage set.

From using this Samsonite luggage set myself, one of the things that really stands out is how easy to move it is. Even when you’re travelling through large crowds of people, this luggage set is easy to manoeuvre. It even takes on some slightly uneven surfaces (such as uneven pavements) quite well, which is surprising… seeing as this usually poses quite a problem with some luggage. So if you need to do quite a bit of walking with your luggage, this set will suit you just fine.

Another luggage set made by Samsonite is the “mobility 22” side rollder and tote bag”. This is another two piece set, and it costs around $100, so it’s a little cheaper than the other set.

Because this set includes the sideroller, it’s perfect for moving up and down narrow airline isles. It has pretty much the same features as the other set. It has the same internal features as well.

One thing to note about this set is it’s very comfortable to pull along. The handle has “TPR coating” which is comfortable on your hands.

One last thing to note about both of these Samsonite luggage sets is that they both have self-mending zippers, and they provide a very safe and smooth closure to your luggage. Although this may seem unimportant, if you’ve ever had luggage that was difficult to open and close, then you know how much of a convenience it is to have zips that work smoothly!

Anyway, that’s all for the Samsonite luggage sets.

Rolling Luggage

Oct 21, 2006 @ 04:16 am by Henry

Rolling luggage is the best choice for when you need to carry a lot of things. The wheels take all the weight, so you can easily pull your rolling luggage around with you and not have to worry about carrying the weight.

Nearly every popular brand of luggage has some form of rolling luggage in their lines.

Let’s talk about some of the most popular brands of rolling luggage.

Firstly, there’s “samsonite”. They are one of the most popular luggage manufacturers in the world, and they have some of the best rolling luggage around. One of the most popular (and slightly more expensive) is the “Samsonite Cruisair”. This rolling luggage can be towed along on two wheels, or you can wheel it along horizontally because of the four multi-directional wheels it has.

This is great for most situations, but especially airports. You can comfortably pull it along on two wheels, or push it along on all four… when you’re waiting in a queue, for example.

If you have the money, and you would like a little more sophistication in your luggage, then maybe you would like the “Hartmann” range of rolling luggage. Non of this stuff is cheap. It starts around $500 and carries on up to around $100 or more. But Hartmann is definitely the rolls Royce of rolling luggage, so if you have enough money then you may want to look at this range.

Some other manufacturers of rolling luggage you may want to look out for are Skyway, Travelpro, Delsey, High Sierra, CalPak, Ricardo and Netpack. All these manufacturers sell rolling luggage for various budgets, so you’re very likely to find something that suits your needs between all these brands.

Over the next few days and weeks I’ll find time to go a little more in depth with each brand, and talk about the pros and cons of each… so you’ll be able to make a better decision of what luggage to buy.

See you soon!

Luggage Review Site

Oct 19, 2006 @ 05:21 am by Henry

Welcome to luggage review. This is my new site all about luggage. While you’re here, you’ll find recommendations, advice and reviews of all the different kinds of luggage around.

At first, this may seem an unusual topic to have a web site on, doesn’t it?

But seeing as a good luggage set can cost you quite a lot, why wouldn’t you want to make sure you get the best product for your money?  Isn’t that what you would do if you’re buying a new TV, or camera? Why not luggage?

So with this in mind, I thought I’d set up a site to post some reviews and opinions of the different luggage manufacturers out there.

So who am I? My name is Henry, and I have some experience with different kinds of luggage. Now I haven’t worked for one of the luggage companies or anything, but I did use to travel quite a bit… so I’ve used and seen many different kinds of luggage around, and I know some are better than others.

Anyway, that will do for the brief introduction. Over the next few days and weeks I’ll try to find time to post some thoughts of the different luggage brands and types out there. Hopefully my thoughts will help you decide which is the best brand for you to go for personally.

If there’s any interest, I may make a forum where we can discuss the pros and cons of the different types of luggage. Hopefully people will ask their questions and concerns, and get help from other people.

Anyway, that’s all for now. See you soon.
